Creating Genealogical Tools using Microsoft® Excel

This presentation demonstrates a set of Excel features that can be used by novice and low experienced spreadsheet users to create tailored genealogy forms and worksheets. These features will be demonstrated using Microsoft® Excel 2003. Consider bringing your laptop for hands-on review and questions following the presentation.
Sam Ward has over 35 years of speaker experience including guest lecturer, during his military career, in numerous U.S. and foreign military institutions and conferences. Sam Ward has been aggressively researching his family history toward a goal of publishing a family memoir. He is applying the Excel skills he honed during his military and aerospace careers to create tools to aid his genealogy efforts.
Mapping Your Ancestor’s Home – Linking Today to the Past
Presented by David Armstrong and Anne Miller
The presenters will demonstrate how genealogists can combine land records, historical maps, aerial photographs, and other documents together with Google Earth in order to provide a comprehensive view of our ancestors’ homes and their communities. Using this approach they will provide the basic steps necessary to create images that can be shared with family members and others.
David J. Armstrong, MA is a professional genealogist specializing in combining historical records with technology to enhance understanding of our ancestors’ lives. He gives presentations, does research for others, and is involved with an orphaned bibles and photos project. Anne J. Miller, Ph.D. is a professional genealogist, an historian, and a psychologist specializing in combining genealogical and historical resources. Anne gives presentations and does research for others. She is also involved with an orphaned bibles and photos project.
